Angel Fire is a high-altitude haven, nestled in a valley 8,382 feet above sea level between mountains ranging from 11,086 to 13,161 feet. Spectacular sunrise and sunset colors gave Angel Fire its name long ago, when Ute Indians observed the glowing skies and called it the "fire of the angels."

Whether you visit Angel Fire in winter or summer, enjoy! Escape the crowds and hectic pace of big cities, the heat and humidity of flatlands, the humdrum of everyday life. Experience the extraordinary; Angel Fire is where you'll find what you're looking for, any season of the year.

The Village of Angel Fire is home to approximately 1,100 year-round residents, with a like number of family dogs and browsing elk. Tourism is the primary industry, with visitors enjoying skiing on the mountain (snowboarding and snowbiking are allowed, too) and other winter recreational activities. Cool, dry summers are a delight. Temperatures rarely exceed 80 degrees, even in July and August.

Golf, fishing, hiking, birding, mountain biking, horseback riding and four-wheeling are just a few of the many adventures available right outside your door. A wide variety of family-oriented events dot the summer, including: a hot air balloon festival and air show, theatre, arts and crafts shows, music festivals and living history days. There's never a dull moment!

The Angel Fire Chamber of Commerce has a membership of more than 230, including a broad range of lodgers, from bed and breakfast facilities to condos, cabins, lodges, hotels and RV parks, as well as many conveniently-located ski and snowboard rental/retail shops, gift shops and restaurants. Angel Fire also has a full-service grocery store, pharmacy, health clinic, convenience store and three gasoline stations. The real estate community is especially active with real estate, mortgage and title companies, building contractors and suppliers. Seven churches provide worship opportunities in the area.

Angel Fire Airport (AXX) provides services through a fixed-base operator to private planes and charter aircraft. A weekly newspaper, advertising and software design companies, as well as CPAs, banks, insurance providers, pet care services and home maintenance companies make Angel Fire a versatile community, able to provide you and your family with all you'll need during a visit, be it a weekend or a month of Sundays.
